A few weeks ago, I did something I’ve been putting off for years: I joined a coworking space.
For an introvert who’s been very content working from my peaceful home office, this was a big (and honestly, intimidating) step. I love my quiet. I love my routine.
But as I cross the 3-year mark as an entrepreneur, I’ve been reflecting on what I want more of, and it’s not more screen time or strategy decks.
It’s connection. Real, face-to-face human connection.
And this one small (slightly scary) step has already brought so much to be thankful for:
🧠 Whiteboarding ideas with other curious humans
💬 Swapping business tips between calls with fellow founders
🥹 My first Friendsgiving
🙌 And a shared energy I didn’t even know I was missing
Hands down, the connection far outweighs any discomfort.
The more I lead, the more I believe:
We weren’t meant to build things alone.
We need real humans to laugh with, challenge our overthinking, and remind us we’re not the only ones figuring it out as we go.
So to my fellow introverts, thinkers, and behind-the-scenes builders:
This is your sign to leave the house. Put down the noise-cancelling headphones for a few minutes and...
Strike up a conversation with someone new at your local coffee shop.
Say yes to that event you keep putting off, even just for an hour.
Grab lunch with a LinkedIn connection you admire (and who might need it too)
Even if it’s awkward and you stumble through the small talk like I did when we were happily eating our Friendsgiving meal and someone asked what I was reading and it turned into a conversation about funerals, cemeteries, and death. 😬 (Should I stick to the weather next time?) Please send tips.
To the people I’ve met IRL this year — thank you. I’m so, so grateful.
And to you, reading this… thanks for being here. Your commitment to using social media as a tool for real connection truly makes a difference in people's lives.
