After working 1:1 with 83 experts over the last decade, I started noticing a pattern.
There are the 4 archetypes I often see hiding behind "I'm not ready yet..."
โ
Almost none of the leaders and subject matter experts I've worked with felt ready when they started sharing their ideas online. They were all waiting for something: permission, validation, the "right" moment.
โ
But as I have to tell myself often: readiness is a myth your fear invented, and absolute certainty never arrives. Scary, right?! I know. I wrestle with that almost daily. Even after becoming a LinkedIn Top Voice, I still have thoughts like, "who am I share my ideas?" and "why should anyone care?"
But I show up anyway, because I'm reminded of the countless stories from others who have inspired me, simply because they refused to give into that fear and show up as their imperfect selves with grit and courage.
Do you see yourself in any of these?

"I'll post when my framework is polished."
Meanwhile, someone with a half-baked version of your idea is getting real-time feedback and building an audience.

"Who am I to talk about this?"
You. You're the one who's been doing this work for years. Your experience IS your credential.
โ

"One more certification, then I'll be ready."
You're not missing knowledge. You're missing permission you'll never receive from anyone but yourself.

"I'll let my work speak for itself."
Your work can't speak. It needs you to speak for it. The people who need you can't find what you won't share.
But here's another pattern I keep seeing: the experts who resonate with people the most aren't the ones who've arrived or have a world-famous invention to share. They're the ones still in motion, still learning, still figuring it out, still willing to say "I don't have all the answers yet."
โ
That honesty makes you more trustworthy, not less.
โ
So if you're waiting until you feel ready... you already are! It's time to stop watching from the sidelines and get into the arena.
We have 6 brave souls starting the Thoughtful Leaders Cohort tomorrow, and we're going to break through some of these roadblocks that hold us back.
Because the world needs your leadership, your voice, and your honesty. If you want to join us, start here. Or if you want to join the next one, just reply here, and I'll send you the details.
