She connected dots no one saw

September 10, 2026

Codie Sanchez turned her newsletter into a $31 million company because she connected dots other people couldn't see.

Codie is the founder of Contrarian Thinking, a financial advice enterprise with over 2.5+ million subscribers, focused on small business acquisitions for the everyman.

And she loves a "boring business." She's been using her Wall Street smarts to help people buy and invest in boring businesses (laundromats, car washes, etc) since 2019.

She could see a laundromat was going to be successful because the math is dead simple (people always need clean clothes, recession or not) and the owner running it hadn't touched the pricing or the machines in 20 years.

Or that a car wash needed a membership model because the guy who owns it is pushing 70, has never heard of a subscription, and is quietly losing customers to the place down the street that added one.

She combined financial analysis, behavioral psychology, and contrarian thinking, all pointing at the same "boring" opportunity everyone else dismissed.

Too often, I see people with big brains trying to squeeze all their brilliance into a small box because they were told to pick a lane.

But their ability to connect the dots is actually their superpower.

Codie didn't pick a lane... she created one. One that matched the level of her thinking, expertise, and ability to see things other people couldn't.

I call these people dot-connectors, and it's the same exercise we run with our clients who are crippled by ideas: instead of asking "what's my one thing?" Ask "what are all my things, and what's the throughline?"

Then, build your content around those throughlines instead of a dozen unrelated topics.

Look at the patterns that overlap between all of those ideas, and see if you can sort them into three core themes. Here's how I'd sort Codie's based on her beliefs, goals, and the transformation she wants to create:

That's how to develop content that captures your full brilliance instead of a fraction of it.

Codie's $31 million idea wasn't in any one dot. It was in the line connecting all of them.

Give it a try this week, and let me know how it goes.

You are brilliant, and it's time your content reflected that.
