I dressed up as Audrey Hepburn for charity. Here's what happened next.👇

Hi Reader,

My local jewelry store, Colonial Jewelers, has a standing tradition --

Close the store for one night. Invite women from all over the county to dress up as Audrey Hepburn, window shop, and watch Breakfast at Tiffany's at the local theater next door.

I took my mom with me, and we had a blast! We drank champagne, walked the red carpet, and cheered when we heard 'Moon River' starting to play on the big screen.

But the best news was this: over $10,000 was raised that night for the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund!

How did they pull this off?

Weeks before the event, attendees purchased a Holly Golightly (Audrey's character) kit on the foundation's website for $75.00.

The kit said: "You provide the dress, we provide the rest!"

We all showed up in our black dresses and opened our kits, which included black gloves, a tiara, pearls, sunglasses, and of course, the vintage cigarette holder.

We listened to the jewelry store's owner share her personal story about fighting breast cancer and the real-life impact this foundation was making in so many women's lives.

The foundation partnered with local businesses to provide food, drinks, and other giveaways throughout the night. The attention was in the details -- making sure we all felt glamorous and an important part of this foundation's incredible work.

It was an experience I'll remember forever, and one I can't stop telling friends about!

I also came away inspired to help other nonprofits learn how to create these memorable experiences -- whether on social media or in real life.

Because when you invite donors into your story and give them something to talk about, the impact creates a ripple effect that outlives one single night (or social media post).

Have you experienced any unique or creative fundraising events this fall? I'd love to hear about them!

Keep exploring,

Brynne

March 24, 2025 Hi Reader, We’re entering a new era of executive leadership. Unilever’s new CEO, Fernando Fernandez, just dropped a post in his first week on the job—and I can’t stop thinking about this line:🎤 “I will be a frontline CEO – all over brand plans and in market execution.” This is not corporate-as-usual.This is a Fortune 500 CEO committing—in public—to being visible. Not just internally, not just behind closed doors, but online. Engaged. Forward-facing. He also said he's shifting...

March 12, 2025 Hi Reader, Social media is going through a major shift—platforms are evolving, AI is everywhere, and brands are rethinking what actually works. Last week, I attended Social Media Outlook in DC, where top industry experts shared their insights on where we’re headed. Speakers included Joseph Ferguson (The Washington Post), Gina Florence (Charles Schwab), Paige Hopkins (Axios), and Avery Whitehead (Former Deputy Director of Platforms, The White House), moderated by Paul Sherman...

Feb. 19, 2025 Quality over quantity matters on LinkedIn, and now I have the data to prove it. We started working with a client 7 months ago to build out their organizational thought leadership on their company's LinkedIn page. The first 6 months, we posted almost daily. They are industry experts and have a TON of valuable content at their finger tips. But due to the depth of the content and time it took to create these high-value daily posts, our team was starting to feel overwhelmed. We went...
